IELTS TEST

Introduction: The TEST of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL ®), administered worldwide by Educational Testing Services (ETS), is a registered trademark. It is a crucial examination for approximately 80% of students aspiring to study in the United States. The TOEFL iBT evaluates your proficiency in reading, listening, speaking, and writing English, with a focus on their integrated use in an academic setting. The four-hour test consists of four sections, each primarily measuring one of the core language skills, though some tasks may require a combination of skills. Note-taking is permitted during the test, and it can only be taken once a week.

READING: The reading section comprises 3-5 lengthy passages accompanied by questions. These questions cover main ideas, details, inferences, sentence re-statements, sentence insertion, vocabulary, function, and overall concepts. The iBT introduces new question types such as paraphrasing, table completion, and summary completion. Generally, prior knowledge of the discussed subject is not necessary to answer correctly, although it may be helpful.

LISTENING: The listening section consists of six lengthy passages followed by questions. These passages include two student conversations and four academic lectures or discussions. The questions assess the understanding of main ideas, details, function, stance, inferences, and overall organization of the passages.

SPEAKING: The speaking section contains six tasks: two independent tasks and four integrated tasks. In the independent tasks, students express their opinions on various aspects of academic life. The integrated tasks require students to listen to passages, summarize the information, and provide opinions. Test takers are expected to clearly, coherently, and accurately convey information, explain ideas, and defend opinions.

WRITING: The writing section consists of two tasks: one integrated task and one independent task. In the integrated task, students write an essay based on information from a reading and listening passage. In the independent task, students must write an essay expressing their own opinion on a given topic.
